The first roll of film I ran seemed to have set the wrong ASA, oddly enough it came out exposed fine (probably because it was print film). Now I'm careful when I put the film in to meter something with no film (default ASA 100) and make sure that it changes by the right number of stops for whatever I'm loading. At least that way if something goes wrong I can correct it at the beginning of the roll. No way to tweak ASA on purpose for better results though, like some people do with slide films. I guess when it comes down to that I'll just have to use the MX.
TTL flash would be nice, as my flash is TTL capable (looking ahead ;), but to be honest my intent when buying the P30t was to learn the basics of manual operation (I haven't actually used Av or program mode yet) until I could properly expose slide film in a wide range of situations on my own (not there yet) and generally get a feel for composition and photography as a whole. I considered a K1000 after borrowing one from the astronomy club and shooting a couple rolls, but they go for a lot more on eBay for one in good condition, and I find DOF preview to be extremely helpful. The MX came about later, because I wanted a good mechanical body to use for astrophotography in the winter; the price was right, and it has the most features of an mechanical shory of the LX or perhaps the KX, which doesn't turn up on eBay often.
