Honestly I see the P30t has a very good cheap learning camera. Even now it
is not that bad. It can work in any mode except TV. The absence of TTL is a
non issue when learning IMO, if you learn photography you need to learn
flash too, don't you?

Moreover it has a DOF preview (and no the Z1 has just the sale manual one,
not eletro-magnetic but Z1 is a bit more expensive). Its focusing screen is
quite bad compared to my new beloved KX (but P30t is budget so why cry?).

Of course if you learn in a school (or whatever equivalent) a K1000, KM or
KX will be way better but look at the price... the P30t is about free, works
with lenses without aperture ring if you are really on the cheap side of
things.
The P30t is a very good camera for learning on your own, as I did and still
do.

I love my KX much more... but comparison is unfair, really...

Need a Super-A/MX/LX and I'll stop using my P30t. A very good camera which
made my brother (and me 10 years later) go Pentax. We still are and intend
to stay Pentaxists.

PS: BTW P30 was the first 35mm SLR sporting DX coding AFAIK... makes the
absence of overriding more logical, specialy on a budget camera.
