That it is, even the 300D is significantly larger than the *ist D

Maybe the FA35/2AL or FA28/2.8AL would suffice, the FA24/2 AL is a little lack-
lustre on the *ist D, the FA31/1.8AL LTD is great but outside your budget.

We actually have absolutely no idea when it will come (if at all) or at what 
price-point or what its feature set will be, why not join in and add to the 
speculation soup :-)

Histogram is available post shot but only with interaction, it can't be 
programmed to activate automatically with the post shot image display at this 
stage.
