The Sandisk Ultra cards good reliable performers and are available through Amazon at great prices. I have a multi-card reader and USB2 hub integrated in my PC so that's what I use mostly although I can use my X-Drive as a USB2 card reader as well. I can't help you with other card readers but I'd be surprised if there were great performance differences between them.
