Thanks Brendan, Paul and William.
I'm glad that there's nothing wrong with my *ist D. It's the studio strobes
that suck!

Paul, surely you don't have to press the green button (to measure the light,
stoped down), when using a flash :-)
But I guess it can be kind of usefull for getting an idea about the avilable
light before choosing what aperture to use (I like to use as little flash
poer as possible and still get enough shutter speed to freeze movement.

Manual works finefor me. I always used Maunal with a flash on the PZ-1/MZ-S
anyway (I don't really trust any automatics when using a flash anyway -
except TTL measuring, of course. Pentax AE programs tend to over estimate my
ability to hold the camera still, choosing shutter speeds as long as 1/30
sec or 1/15 sec.).

All the best.

It's quite simple. Just set the camera to M , set the aperture you wish
to use, and set the shutter speed to 1/150 or slower. When using an M
or K lens, I push the green button once before setting the ap and
shutter speed. I'm not sure if I have to, but it works. I shoot with
the *ist D in the studio several times a week. It's great.
