Well, I am not an expert on this lens, but I seem to remember an 85/1.9 Takumar
(preset), an 85/1.9 Auto Takumar, an 85/1.8 Super Takumar, and an 85/1.8 SMC
Takumar. For what it is worth, as I recall, Auto Taks stopped down when you took
the picture but did not reopen until you advanced the film. Super Taks reopened
automatically, SMC Taks were Supers with multicoating. Anybody remember if there
were ever straight manual lenses (not preset) in the 28 to 135 range? As there
were, IIRC, in 200 and up.

The Auto is mainly a collector's item, while the S-M-C is an
excellent optical performer.
And there even was an 85/1.9 between them (I believe) in lineage
(and certainly not nearly as good as the sweet SMC Tak 85/1.8).
(Of course, then, some people do like mediocre lenses for portrait
lenses; but I digress...)
