I've got two solutions to this problem. For the rapidly-accessible in-the-field changes I have (two sets of) four AA rechargeable cells held together with an elastic band (I use one from my daily newspaper). Discharged cells from the camera just go into my pocket or into the camera bag. There's no chance of confusion, because they don't have an elastic band holding them together.
Beyond that I've got another eight cells in my camera bag. They are in a little plastic container, held closed by another elastic band. The container? It's the original store packaging for an eight-pack of Rayovac Rechargeable AA cells :-) Les Anthis mused: > > hey Jens, I use a couple of my wifes hair rubber bands.
