It would be nice if the camera worked like that in "P" and/or "Av" modes
(just what it should do in "Tv" with a K/M lens mounted is a good question).
I doubt if Pentax *are* taking notes, though, because I'm pretty sure we
suggested this shortly after the first *ist-D bodies showed up in the
hands of list members (when we also suggested the "green button" trick).

I must admit I'm puzzled as to why the camera behaves as it does with old
lenses mounted - in particular I don't understand what purpose is served
by having the lens stop down (which it does post-exposure).  I can only
surmise that there is some necessary side-effect of calling the stop-down
subroutine.
