what do you mean by "corner" distortion? barrel or pincusion?

secondly I have never a lens yet that stopping down reduced distortion,
distortion is fixed regardless of fstop.

at the long end, there is plenty of corner distortion unless you stop
down a lot, even on the *istD. i got that i really don't use mine unless
i have to forego the weight of my FA* 80-200/2.8.
