True, should P ever come up with IS body, it's very likely IS will
  require AF lenses relaying focal length and distance info.

  Speaking of Pentax capabilities, optical Image Stabilization is
  mainstream nowadays. At least 5 companies offer it in one form or
  another, to list Canon, Nikon, Minolta and Panasonic. Add to these
  various video camera manufacturers and you get a broad spectrum of
  IS products. Pentax cannot blame R&D costs or patent infringements
  anymore. They need to introduce it both in the SLR area as well in
  the long range zoom digicams where they made already inroads with
  the Optio MX.
