I got the feeling that by the time they had made the decision, some of us
might not be around to see with our own eyes. LOL.

Who knows. According to the Pentax boss Pentax have decided to market IS in
one form or another. This was a couple of years ago when it was said that
they had not decided on body IS or "in lens" IS. According to Herbert
Keppler Pentax will chose body IS like Minolta.
If so, the feature won't work with older lenses without focal lenght info
unless Pentax provide means to manually dial in focal lenght of the lens in
use.
