I thought about that, but decided not to risk doing any real damage. Plus, it would become thicker and heavier, taking away two of its best advantages.

But you will need to make a new tripod mount and move it more towards the rear of the camera which isnt as well balanced but since the camera isnt that heavy it isnt much of a problem. If you only carry one lens that might be good mod to make. I like to carry 3 or more and the installation and removal is so quick and easy I don't see any need to close with a lens mounted. JCO
