Nope, no "knack" that I ever found.
I just sat in a dark room with a waste roll of film
till I got used to it.
I'll probably have to learn all over again now.
Just ordered some Tri X, Plus X and soup mix.
IIRC I did used to cut the leader slightly rounded,
that seemed to help getting it started.
Cut before I opened the cassette, of course.
Unfortunately that means a camera where you can
leave the leader out a bit when you rewind.
Rats! Never thought about that, the 5n's won't do it.
I WILL have to learn over again.
