You werent comparing KA lenses of same focal length and speed in your comparison. the Nikon has a different flange distance, not sure which way, and a hate to ask but HOW MUCH for a Nikon 14mm F2.8 lens? I have a feeling it's a lot more than $699 huh?
I mentioned the extra cost in a previous post, and I am making comparisons between what is available, as I would rather not just fart theories out my ass,
14mm is about as close as you can get to 15mm so it's a fairly safe comparison, and there is no direct comparison aperture to aperture available.
I don't know how much of a size difference 2/3 stop will allow at this focal length.
I suspect not much, since it is the flange to focal plane distance and the resulting extreme retrogocal design causing the large size more than the aperture.
Also, as I specifically mentioned, for myself, (YMMV) an APS sensor sized lens isn't much interest to me (and the original poster wasn't too sure about it either either).
