I want it for my *ist D, so I prefere the AF version. It' quite a cheap
alternative to the 24-90 and I don't really need the last 40mm for APS-C
size sensor.

I had an F24-50 for a while with a PZ-1 and PZ-1p. Very nice results
and handling, and nearly as good as the 24-90 (at least from
24-50mm!), which I purchased later.

I sold the F24-50 and got the A24-50, which is a lovely,
solid-feeling zoom that has the same optical formula of the F. Of
course it doesn't have autofocus, but it seems more compact than the
F and handles nicely on the smaller bodies, with or without
winder/grips.
