I had an F24-50 for a while with a PZ-1 and PZ-1p. Very nice results and handling, and nearly as good as the 24-90 (at least from 24-50mm!), which I purchased later.

I sold the F24-50 and got the A24-50, which is a lovely, solid-feeling zoom that has the same optical formula of the F. Of course it doesn't have autofocus, but it seems more compact than the F and handles nicely on the smaller bodies, with or without winder/grips.

Thanks alot Kostas.
The 24-90 seems to be doing beyyrt than any other lens in this test, it's
especially convincing at full aperture. The 24-50mm seems to be almost as
good when stopped down (F8). And I wouldn't spend any money on the 18-35mm.

I guess 172 USD for a F24-50mm is not such bad deal afterall. I would
prefere the FOV of the 16-45mm, but the price tag is three times that of the
24-50mm. I will consider getting the 24-50, since I use special lenses
(2.8/20mm) for special occaitions anyway. I have a few more options
(Especially the Sigma EX 18-50 DC F2.8, which cost app. the same as the
Pentax 16-45mm F4).

Thanks Kostas and Dario.

Jens,

I lost your OP re F24-50. Dario posted today some comparisons under
the 24-90 thread; the 24-50 features there.
