I've never encountered this exact problem before. Will a battery that is
low on power, in this case a lithium cell, cause [metering] problems, or might
there be another factor involved?
The ME Super is supposed to have a low battery indicator (the LED indicating the metered shutter speed flashes) that kicks in well before the low battery causes inaccuracies. Which it almost certainly will, eventually.
