No special lens caps were needed with the slim filters I used to have - Hoya
multicoated. The idea seems odd.
No vignetting with 2.8/20 or 3.5-4.5/24-90.

There was a fair bit more finger than the thickness of a filter, so I'll get and buy a normal sized B+W MRC - additionally someone advised me against buying the slim version since these need a special lenscap.
