Vignetting from the filter (or finger) is more evident with more DOF.

Uhm, might you explain what you had in mind when writing your advice? I'd like to take it into account, but I got no clue what you want me to use the dof preview for.
thanks, Sam

Good advice - but do use depth of field preview if your camera has it. All the best! Raimo K Personal photography homepage at: http://www.uusikaupunki.fi/~raikorho

Good idea - why didn't I think about the obvious thing first?
Heres a little trick to see if a filter will vignette:
Look through the viewfinder and put a finger beside the lens. Move your finger forwards until you can see it in the viewfinder.
If there is less finger extended past the lens than the thickness of a filter, then a filter will vignette.
If more, then it won't.
Don't worry about a small amount of vignetting, just take the photo a tiny bit loose.
