You had me looking for an F 35-85, no such beast.
I see from the web page you meant the 35-80/4-5.6.
I have an F 28-80/3.5-4.5 that has done very well
considering it's $25.00 US price tag.
I think some of the older F lenses are highly
under-rated just because they're heavy and
quite ugly.
The 28-80 is quite homely but a very good lens
all around.
The 35-80 is quite a bit more pleasing to the eye.
I also have an F 35-70/3.5-4.5, very cheap but has
given me almost unbelievably good results on the D.
