One of the things I have found with home burned CD's (I deal with a lot of them) is that people tend to leave open sessions on them so that they can add to them later.
My experience is that if the CD isn't finalized, there may be problems reading it on other computers.
I'm not sure if an open session CD is dependant on the software used for burning to open until the CD is finalized or if something else is causing the problem.
