For a lot of reasons that I won't go into, because I'd have to use some math, and explain some physics, (which would require
using my brain, the last thing I want to do no an election day), and some assumptions of the actual average resolving power of
35mm film, the Holy Grail of digital photography is probably a 13-22mp roughly 35mm sized sensor. Whether or not Pentax
ever builds one or not is another question, but I see no reason to buy a lens that doesn't have an image circle to cover that format. The only exception would be if the lens were extraordinarily inexpensive, (i.e. disposable), while still providing reasonable performance .
Lenses should easily out last any camera body especially in the digital age, yet in most cases are depreciating investments. Besides which for some applications you still can't beat film, and may not ever be able to, so I want lenses which will work on both
formats.

I'm going to avoid expensive DAs because I don't want to have a D'oh! moment when I buy the full-frame digital in a few years. But with the investment Pentax and others are making in APS-sized-sensor lenses I'm thinking the small-sensor DSLR format is here to stay.

I can understand why mankind hasn't given up war. During a war you get to drive tanks through the sides of buildings and shoot foreigners - two things that are usually frowned on during peacetime.
