In concert with yes, but I and most other photographers that I know don't have room to set aside an area where we can leave up a little product array with fixed lighting etc. It's much easier to produce repeatable shots on a test chart, mine is taped to a wall at a convenient height. If you know how to interpret your test chart results most real life performance anomalies won't be too much of a surprise.
