that is of course possible but if the aperture is inconsistant size every time it stops down to either take a picture or take a meter reading the error would be there regardless of whether the metering technique is stop down or open aperture so your caveat does not apply. Its another source of error for BOTH metering techniques. JCO

If you stop down meter, then open the lens up for final composition and then take the picture, there may well be a variance in the aperture size between metering and exposure. William Robb
