I just checked and it certainly does rewind the film. For manual
rewind one has to press in the rewind button on the bottom of the
winder and then push the rewind lever forward past a slight "click",
and that's all there is to it.
The LX manual says this about automatic rewind:
An LED flashes when the film stops automatically at
the end of the cassette and the automatic rewind
feature rewinds a full 36-exposure cassette in
about 15 seconds.
