The screws are actually "JIS" cross points, using the correct screw driver is 
very important as is having a good handle so that you can apply the correct 
amount of torque and forward pressure. A driver handle which uses an industrial 
HIOS bit built for mechanized assembly is ideal. They are excellent screw-
drivers and although not cheap should be available as a Sony spare part and 
will last you a lifetime.

They sometimes have threadlock applied, often the application of a small 
soldering iron with a clean tip applied to the head for a few seconds can make 
the threadlock just fluid enough to help with removal. Solvents should be a 
last resort.

Under the zoom ring are a set of contact fingers which feed back FL to the 
camera body, I don't recall how to remove this ring however I know I have 
successfully in the past. I'm sorry I can't offer more but just be careful as 
it's easy to damage the electrical contacts.
