I have found it no more prone to flare than other wide angle lenses. I good lens hood is usually crutial for a wide angel, isn't it?
I always use it with the original hood, but in the bright sunny days so common here in Southern Europe, it is evident that this lens flares much more than, for example, the FA 28-70 4.0 I also used to have, which had superb flare resistance.
