That was just one camera, not a commitmant.
They do make some mighty nice lenses though.

Their "commitment seems as strong as the commitment they've shown for medium 
format; continue with the same product forever. 
Apart from the one camera body they did, and still do, offer a remarkable 
number of "professional" lenses. At a certain point in the 80's Pentax offered 
about 70 lenses the vast majority of them targeted towards  advanced users.
You could really turn the argument on the head, at least based on lens 
selection, that Pentax do not target the entry level market as all other major 
camera manufacturers offer a more complet line of worthless, cheap zoom lenses!
