unlike many of Microsoft's white papers on these subjects, i agree on most of what the guy says. i just finished building a new system that fits the cutting edge description pretty well, although i have more disk space but slower processors. a PCI-Express video card makes a big difference, as does 10K RPM SATA drives. my RAID-5 setup uses slower 7200 RPM drives. i'm upgrading from Windows 2000 to XP Pro finally because it support dual processors with Hyperthreading enabled on both. i got tired of firing up Photoshop and running a deblur plugin to see the system basically freeze until it completed. even reading email was very slow while Photoshop was running the plugin. the second processor lets me do something more while waiting for the plugin to finish.
