Well, D70 has some nice controls, the image quality is good. It is
responsive. AF is good but only using the central point (other points
suck big time). It's not entirely up to sport photography, sadly,
because the predictive AF doesn't track the active subject that well, time to
time it just refocuses to front or back subjects. But USM lenses do
help here. It has some quirks though - small viewfinder, small
viewfinder, small viewfinder, small viewfinder, small viewfinder,
dark porroprism, dark porroprism, ugly viewfinder, ugly viewfinder.
Manual focus is totally UNUSABLE (and tell you, I tried even  with
long fast 2.8 lenses). Sometimes it's hard to see the details of the
subject. Based on that, I would go for IstDS if I were you. The
viewfinder is one of the most important parts of a camera, even though
such idiots like on DPREVIW's team don't admit it.
