I read an article today highlighting Olympus's problems making money in digital cameras. I think they said Sony, Nikon, Pentax, and Minolta were all in the red. They said the strategy was essentially waiting for the other manufactures to 'chicken out' and leave the market to their brand because of the red ink. The other 'strategy' was to move up in price to the digital SLR, but Olympus and Minolta were already too late for this.
I had a play with the Minolta Maxxum 7D the other day. It's a lovely DSLR - probably the equal of the *istD in every respect bar that of size. And that in-body anti-shake technology is *really* nice.
