Peter... I think there are as many strategies for winning auctions on eBay
as there are people trying.

Something that's worked for me recently is to use a sniping service; I'm
using "auctioninsights.auctionstealer.com", but I don't think they're better
than the competition. There are plenty of options out there.

If you don't like the idea of sniping, then simply bid the maximum that you
can afford (and you think is fair for the item) and never look back. In the
past, I lost out to snipers when I tried to get a "good deal".
