My strategy is to place a bid for what I think an Item is worth plus a little. Example: I think it's worth $150.00
so I'm willing to go to say $160.00. I then try to resist the urge to look again until the auction is over. If I lose
I'll look for another. If I win I didn't get stampeded by action fever into spending more than the Item was worth.
I've seen bidders, even those with considerable feedback spend way too much on items that were available new
from the factory in sealed boxes for much less money.

Thanks so far all you "snipers". I learned a lot in a few minutes. Do you think - in general - that snipers are experienced bidders, that is bidders with a large number of feedbacks?

I can understand why mankind hasn't given up war. During a war you get to drive tanks through the sides of buildings and shoot foreigners - two things that are usually frowned on during peacetime.
