Sorry Bob, I couldn't resist the wise crack! ;-) I have however cleaned a number of mirrors, I buy a lot of "as is" or "for parts/repair" 35's and some are unbelievably filthy. The method I've used is this: 1. "Tease" the end of several Q-Tips (Cotton swabs) until they look more like a string mop than a swab. 2. Starting out with one very wet with glass cleaner, "drag" it (ZERO pressure) over the mirror several times. 3. Now start "dragging" the dry swabs over the mirror, using a new swab every time you start at the top of the mirror. 4. If a little streaking is left a little breath and another "teased" swab removes it.
There is just enough alcohol in the glass cleaner (I use Windex or Glass Plus) to remove minor amounts of grease, oil and foam without damage to the coating. I've saved some pretty horrible looking mirrors this way. NOW if I could find a way to remove big blobs of foam from the screens without damage I'd be all set!
