Burned out highlights or shadows too deep to show detail. The term
"clipping" just refers to the fact that the high and low ends of the
histogram are cut off. In the PS CS RAW converter, reducing exposure
can eliminate clipped highlights and pulling back the shadow adjustment
can eliminate clipped shadow areas. Of course that doesn't mean it will
restore detail that wasn't recorded, but it will allow you to reduce or
eliminate the off-the scale highs and lows.

If you hold down the ALT button and click on the Exposure or Shadows
