I would use white lithium grease. It's not very thick, not at all fibrous, and very pure. More importantly, it lasts a long time without hardening. In the days of contact point distributors, you could count on it to lube the distributor cam for ten thousand miles and millions of revolutions. You can find it at auto parts stores.
