Hi Jerry,

I'll take a wild guess at this one! <g>
Most more or less average folks end up buying the low dollar (around US$100) units from Epson, because of all the hype!
They DO work well, but do NOT tolerate idleness, as has been mentioned before.
Odd fact is, the folks who buy the cheaper (cheapest?) Epson printers are not those who appreciate and can afford the more expensive versions, so as their performance falls off, they compain about it on the 'net.

We've both read numerous messages in praise of Epson, from more or less professional users who use their printer as a tool, so that seems the key. Epson doesn't make a bullet-proof cheap printer!

May I also guess what comes next?
We'll hear from that small group who say, "I only use my $80 printer once or twice every 3 months, and it's never failed me, so what are you talking about?"
I guess some folks are just plain lucky, to not represent part of the majority! <grin>

Don't you think there is a reason why Epson printers
are the overwhelming choice of those who are
passionate about making digital B/W and color fine art
prints? With very few exceptions, nothing comes close
to their printing standards.... Would they like
something better, sure, but until then Epson is the
printer of choice.
