In the Applications folder under Utilities is a program called Activity Monitor. Like the Windows task manager, it is quite cryptic to those who haven't seen it before. If you filter the process list with "My Processes" in the drop-down box it's a bit easier to follow.
Unix die-hards can just start a Terminal and run 'top' :)
