Looks like some banding Fred.

The Canon 20D is supposed to have this problem to at high iso and certain 
lenses.

See if you get it with a diffrent lens with the same shot , if you can shot the 
subject
again.

Future firmware may help,or as some one said, it may have to go back for a 
return.

This is one of the 2 major problems with digital,the other , dust.
