Welcome to the list. On almost any question you will get different
views. The views are not usually just right or wrong. Everything in
photography is a trade-off. When you gain something you lose something
else. So different views express what people value.

In regard to your lens question, do you really need to go to 300/320 mm?
The reason to consider the question is that such lenses produce softer
images after 200 mm. If you want more sharpness in your pictures, a
sharper (and inexpensive) lens is Pentax's FA 80-200 f4.7-5.6 zoom. But
if you need the 200-300/320 range, and will not make large enlargements,
then the 80-320 will do you well.

Have fun,

Joe
