I have had the same flare problems with the Sigma when I used it for a
while. Any brighter spot of light in the frame would leave a big soft
flare spot somewhere. The problem can be partly lessened by using the
supplied dog bowl (er, lenshood...), but one some cameras it vignettes
the corners (as it was I suppose made for 1.6-1.7x extension
factor...). Friend filed away the corners from his hood and it worked
well without vignetting, reducing the flare. But, unfortunately,
not completely. It doesn't reduce the problem of having bright bulbs
_in_ the frame. The Pentax clearly is much better here!
Good light!
