Most of the population lives inland, apparently.

Still, most of the country is less then 17metres above sea level. If you look carefully at the simulation's third frame, you can see the amplification of the wave as it surges up the narrowing coastline. Very, very lucky people, in that sense.

I wonder what the effect has been on the tribal people of the Andaman Islands. They are thought to be relict populations of the original modern Human expansion out of Africa, 75,000 years ago. It's possible that they have all been killed.

The islands seem to have been worst hit of all. 8-(
