Certainly more than one or two.

I saw a doc on him last year, which showed him in session. His
assistant flipped and/or changed magazines (or whatever they're
called) fairly often, while Karsh amiably chatted with his subjects,
putting them at ease, apparently not paying attention to what he was
doing, all the while, squeezing his little airbulb (or whatever it's
called), snapping away.

Several of his subjects were interviewed, and all mentioned that he so
put them at ease with his conversation, that they didn't even realize
that he was shooting all the while, even though studio flashes were
going off.

I know I've mentioned it here before, but that doc mentioned that
anyone could go in off the street for a portrait at his Ottawa studio.
He charged the same as any other portrait photographer in town. Sure
would have been cool to have a Karsh of me hanging on my wall...

cheers,
frank
