It's more common than the SMC-F version. At least that was the case up until a year ago when I finally snagged an "F". I specifically wanted the "F" due to the awesome tripod mount. It makes a great handle when you're not using a 'pod, or you're using a monopod rather than a tripod. TTYL, DougF KG4LMZ
