No sooner do I start using my 35-85 Varifocal Zoom on my *ist-D then the
aperture ring
begins to become quite stiff and rough. No problem says I just open 'er
up and clean out
the mechanism, it's not like it's rocket science. So I get the lens
mount and aperture ring off
clean out the junk lube the cheesy, (and I do mean cheesy), mechanism
and start to reassemble...

What the &*#U $^*)T$^% &^%* happened to the (&((^$ _spring_. Yes the
stupid little spring
which holds a small ball in the aperture ring mechanism is gone. I
never even saw it leave. Anyone
who's had these lenses or similar lenses apart know of a source for
something that will replace them?

I can understand why mankind hasn't given up war.
During a war you get to drive tanks through the sides of buildings
and shoot foreigners - two things that are usually frowned on during peacetime.
