I can't tell you if the A* is any better, since I've never fooled with
the SMC-K 200mm f2.5, but the SMC-A* 200mm f2.8 is easily the best lens
I own, and either the best or second best that I've ever used (I'm still
evaluating the negs from when I borrowed Bill O'Neill's FA* 24mm f2.0).
