Like Bruce, I prefer the first one - the eye contact and friendly smile are nice. I've gotta say, I'm so used to seeing "photographs with a message" or "photos that make me think" from you, I don't know how to react to these. Maybe due to the title, I was expecting carnival pix with bright colours and dancers and the like. As a "street portrait" it works well. Nothing spectacular, just a friendly stranger who you bumped into on the street. I think the harsh sunlight/shadows bother me a bit, too (I find them distracting), but there's not much you could do about that, is there? cheers, frank -- "Sharpness is a bourgeois concept." -Henri Cartier-Bresson
