using the
"File->File Info" menu item in Adobe Photoshop 5.5. It's probably the same in later versions but I don't know that
for sure.
"Image->Information" menu item in IrfanView 3.xx brings up a file information dialog box. There's a button on the
lower left hand corner that lets you edit the IPTC information. If the file also contains EXIF information a button becomes
visible which allows you to read it. EXIF stands for EXchange Image file Format IIRC.

How do you embed key words in EXIF and IPTC? What is IPTC? And it would be super if you can refresh my muddled morning mind as to what EXIF is as well.

Anyway, I thought I'd go the middle ground and embed all the keywords,
comments and descriptions using EXIF and IPTC. This way I'm not tied to
any particular management software.

I can understand why mankind hasn't given up war. During a war you get to drive tanks through the sides of buildings and shoot foreigners - two things that are usually frowned on during peacetime.
