no, it's actually not complex to use. No-one can make you use all the functions at once. I've found my camera (Z-1p) VERY "smart" in program modes. As a matter of fact, under more-or-less normal lighting conditions it's not easy to be smarter than camera. With my previous cameras (and my current other body - Z-20) I generally avoided program mode, now I use it quite often. Hyper Program in combination with proper compensating will do the job in most cases.
