The DS is a little lighter, a little faster, and has one or two fewer features than the D. It's both simplified and a little higher spec, uses SD media instead of CF.
With the DS, you can use any Pentax mount lens. With A and later model lenses, you get full metering function. With M and prior K mount lenses, you get semi-automatic metering using Manual mode and the AE-Lock button, and you're limited to CenterWeighted and Spot metering patterns. With screw mount lenses, you mount the lenses with an adapter and get the same metering as with early K and M series lenses, but you have to stop the aperture down manually (no auto-diaphragm support). I believe the same is true of the D but you need to have the latest firmware revision and it operates s little differently. I chose the DS body as I liked it more, and it cost less. Image quality is excellent and the size/weight is fantastic. Godfrey --- Jim Hemenway <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi Folks: > > I'm new to this list.
